Andrew’s Portfolio:
Size: 11 x 14 in
Materials: Pencil, Prismacolor Pencil,
Process: Experimented with many different mediums including graphite, watercolor and prismacolor pencils. Studied value and color using the subject then drew the final drawing with a new understanding of light and hue.
Why: The Jewish New Year has the symbolic fruits of apples with honey and pomegranates for a sweet new year. I did a value and color study on apples and honey to learn how to best depict them. I ultimately chose prismacolor pencils for the vibrancy and detail they provide, especially in representing the value of the apples and reflections of the glass.
Materials: Pencil and paper
Process: Multiple images of different facial features to learn about the head’s structure and practice skills, shade, value, blending and proportion.
Size: 11 x 14 in
Materials: Pen on Bristol
Process: I chose to depict a worms eye view of my car, and through the use of simple line, create shade and shadow to express depth, texture and reflection.
Why: After multiple sketches of details and angels of my car, I found that pen and ink with simple lines gave this drawing the depth I wanted. Through studying the elements of design I created lines, shapes, patterns, textures, and value all with one pen.
Size: 9 x 11 in
Materials: Watercolor, fine point pen
Materials: Photoshop, Drawing
Why: After the terrible fire that destroyed Notre Dame, I felt the loss of this beautiful architectural landmark and had to recreate it in all of its glory. I decided to draw it on my visual diary because even a small drawing or memory of it allows one to recall its original splendor.
Size: 8.5 x 3.5 x 2.75 in
Materials: Drawings, Tinkercad, Laser, Wood
Process: I wanted to integrate my sense of design with technology, starting with sketches then cutting styrofoam then using tinkercad for the 3D design and lasercut.
Why: I chose to create layered puzzle pieces that can be rotated around its axis to depict a head.

Size: 5.5 x 8.5 each
Materials: Prismacolor pencils on toned tan paper
Process: Experimented with how white and dark pencils affect the volume of a shape
Why: To explore value in a different medium and experiment with how light, tint and shade can be effective on toned tan paper. I started with spherical shapes to exaggerate the shading. The toned tan paper added a third dimension that white or black paper doesn't offer—having control on defining where both light and dark areas are.
Size: 9 x 12 in. each
Materials: Prismacolor on Black Paper
Why: To experiment the effectiveness of adding light to black paper to depict shapes. prismacolor pencils were perfect for their vibrancy on the dark paper.
Page spread size:11 x 17 in
Model Size: 3 x 1.5 x .5 in
Process: Multiple Sketches. 3D renderings. Process Drawings. 3D prints.
Why: I noticed that when I was reading a book while lying down on my back, the book would always close on itself unless I held it open with two hands. This was uncomfortable, so I designed this widget to be able to hold a book spread open in any position with only one hand.
Page Spread Size: 8.5 x 11 in
Cufflink Size: .75 x .5 x .5 in
Process: Multiple Designs, 3D rendering, 3D printing, Lost Wax Casting
Why: I wanted to create wearable art that represents myself and I would enjoy wearing.
Size: 8.5 x 10
Materials: Black paper, prismacolor pencil, editing
